REVERSE ENGINEERING
Unlock new possibilities via reverse engineering
Reverse engineering is the process of deconstructing a mechanical component to understand how it works – often with little to no prior knowledge of its design.
With our experts at the Center of Competence we adapted this process to non-ZF parts, making them as easy to repair as if they were our own. This service is very flexible and can be done on complete gearboxes and components as well as for individual parts – all tailored to your needs. Be it gears, bevel gears, housing recovery, covers, shafts or labyrinth seals: we have the capability to support.
This is how it works:
- Disassemble
Our experts methodically take everything apart and disassemble the unit. - Document
All of the parts are identified and a bill of Materials is created. Furthermore every step is documented in order to create a manual for future overhauls. - Design
The required parts are reverse engineered, using state of the art measurement and CAD equipment. Every part reverse engineered is given a unique ten-digit ZF part number with the manufacturing drawing released. - Source
In order to reassable the component, the required parts are sourced. Those can be standard such as bearings or reverse engineered parts such as gears. - Deliver
In the end the final product is delivered. ZF can provide support for ongoing lifecycle management of the component inlcuding overhaul period optimization.
