Merlin Motor Works Trusted Quality

Merlin Motor Works (MMW) was established in Singapore 40 years ago by Mr Wee. Today, his sons Jacky and Henry run the workshop supported by four other mechanics. Over the years, the company has become one of Singapore’s most reliable workshops, entrusted by generations of car owners to provide a suite of preventive maintenance and automotive repairs. The team services approximately 10 cars per day, primarily for continental brands such as Mercedes Benz, Audi and BMW. Some of the most common repair works include suspension and valve replacements and oil and gasket leaks.

Customer satisfaction is paramount to the team, so they are highly selective in the quality of spare parts they choose for their customers. When ZF’s distributor, Tye Soon Pte Ltd approached MMW two years ago to promote SACHS shock absorbers for Asian car models like Honda and Toyota, they decided to find out more.

A complete set of shock absorbers was installed in Henry’s car, a Honda Stream RN6, so he could experience their quality and discover why they are popular with customers. After testing them for over a month, Henry was pleased that the shock absorbers provide a good level of comfort, even over big humps: “My car feels more stable, and it’s definitely more comfortable travelling over humps in the road!” Without further consideration, Henry decided to start offering SACHS shock absorbers to his customers.

“I was also impressed by the excellent after-sales support provided by Tye Soon’s sales manager, Chee Boon, who followed up on any issues effectively and promptly,” adds Henry. The entire Merlin team benefited from onsite hands-on training to get technical tips on how to install SACHS shock absorbers, as well as advice on suitable tools to use.

Chee Boon, also ensures sufficient stock is available to meet demand. “ZF has a strong reputation as a provider of parts for continental cars such as BMW and Mercedes Benz, and they are now bringing their strong track record for various Asian car makes such as Toyota, Honda and Nissan. In addition, ZF is a dependable OE supplier to more than 55 automotive brands. We are excited to partner with them and can’t wait to introduce more of our customers to their comprehensive range of high-quality parts.”

Now that trust has been built with the SACHS brand, Henry is keen to explore other ZF products, such as LEMFÖRDER steering and suspension for a one-stop chassis supplier.
