Craig Lowndes Wins First Race
for TeamVortex

First Race
  • Craig Lowndes wins first race for TeamVortex
  • Lowndes is currently leading the 2016 V8 Supercar Championship

SACHS Brand Ambassador Craig Lowndes is currently leading the 2016 V8 Supercar Championship after a stellar performance at the Perth SuperSprint over the weekend.

Lowndes scored TeamVortex’s first-ever win with a finely judged victory at Barbagallo Raceway, marking his 104th career win overall. He overcame tricky weather conditions in Saturday’s Race 8 of the Supercar Championship, before backing up with a close-fought third in Sunday’s Race 9.

These two podium finishes have put him into the lead of the 2016 Supercar Championship, 42 points ahead of Triple Eight team-mate Jamie Whincup who came third in Saturday’s race.

“It's terrific to get TeamVortex's first win and Triple Eight's first podium lockout in a championship race,” Craig Lowndes said following Saturday’s race victory.

“Now we leave this weekend and head to Winton leading the championship, and that’s a great outcome for Team Vortex.

“Although Winton hasn’t always been our best track, we go there with confidence after this weekend and with a car and team that has really gelled now. Can’t wait.”

Lowndes will next head to Victoria for the Woodstock Winton SuperSprint, scheduled from May 20-22.

The Triple Eight Race Engineering prepared machines of Lowndes and Whincup as well as team-mate Shane Van Gisbergen are all fitted with SACHS Formula Matrix Dampers, as well as SACHS carbon racing clutches, with the combination winning a total of seven V8 Supercar titles.

Not only is SACHS an original supplier to manufacturers worldwide, including local Australian-built vehicles, the SACHS range of replacement shock absorbers offers an OE quality solution for a comprehensive range of vehicles on Australian roads.

Locally, motorsport products like the SACHS Formula Matrix dampers and carbon racing clutch are available through Triple 8 Race Engineering, while the full aftermarket range is available via ZF Services Australia, with details available at www.zf.com/au.
